One of my favourite brewers, this simple way of making coffee is just what I need first thing in the morning when my brain hasn’t woken up yet.

I think the Aeropress makes 1 person coffee really well, sort of like a small French Press but through a paper filter so you dont get that gunk at the bottom of the mug. Although as soon as your house mate or partner also wants a coffee its really boring making a few in a row!

I also love this recipe as it only uses 11g of coffee! So on those weeks where I start worrying about just how much coffee I consume on a daily basis, I can have 2 of these throughout the morning and only have had 22g of coffee, whereas 2 V60s is 40g!

There are many different ways to brew an Aeropress but I think the easier the better. You don’t need to over-complicate you 7am brew! Put the paper filter in the cap, fill it up, wait for it to brew and plunge!

Giving the brewer a little shake before you plunge helps break the surface tension of the coffee thats floated to the top, and this helps get a higher extraction from your brew!

With lots of brew methods you should rinse your filter paper to get rid of the papery taste, But you can get away skipping this step with your Aeropress. The small amount of paper to the volume of the brew means you can’t really taste anything and its just one more unnecessary step early in the morning.
